Streptococcus pneumoniae MccF-like (MccF homolog) - E.coli MccF confers immunity to microcin C and several ASA by cleaving the peptide bond between the C-terminal amino acid residue and phosphoramide adenosine in the antibiotic. Homologs of MccF are widespread in pathogenic bacterial species and we suggest that some of these proteins are involved in resistance to some natural aminoacyl-tRNA-synthetase inhibitors.
