Complimentarily to TgENO1, enolase 2 (TgENO2) is expressed specifically in tachyzoites and is involved in glycolysis during the acute infection. TgENO2 expression is regulated by promoter sequences distinct from TgENO1. Hence TgENO2 is candidate specifically for tachyzoite drug target. The dual strategy of hitting enolases in both developmental stages can be explored [PMID: 12350375, 15784612, 11399076]
