Description
MenF is the first enzyme in the menaquinone pathway. It catalyzes the isomerization of chorismate to isochorismate, use in menaquinone biosynthesis. Menaquinone is an electron carrier that is essential for anaerobic electron transport in bacteria. Here, we report crystal structure of MenF, menaquinone-specific isochorismate synthase form Yersinia pestis CO92 to 2.3 A. Crystal structure reveals close fold similarity to structure of MenF from E.coli (2eau).
